  1. I enjoyed the post. I recall taking the 2nd edition Codex to a college class in the 90s, and one of the students (a non-traditional older woman) saw it and made a disapproving comment about it :) At the time I had zero awareness that sexuality was even a thing to be considered when perusing Sisters of Battle artwork or miniatures.

    1. "non-traditional older woman" :) Those were, as I recall, common in college classes in the 90s :)

  2. Nice post, I appreciate your thoughts on this. I hadn't considered the possibility that displaying outward femininity would be a logical necessity for the SoB, but it really does make sense. Btw, I also do not use Repentia models, they cross my comfort line. I wish there was an alternative unit choice in "Aspirants": non-power-armored Sisters prior to taking their permanent vows of service to the Emperor. They might serve a similar tabletop role as Repentia (perhaps armed with pistols and swords?), but would be more socially acceptable.

    1. You could convert some up and "count as". Of course, in 8th ed we will have the whole Imperium keyword to draw from so we could field various Imperial Guard models proxies if we wished.
